Unite members want a fair and decent society for everyone, in work and out of it. It’s not just employment rights that are threatened right now – housing, the NHS, public services, social security, education and legal services are all under attack. But it doesn’t have to be like this.

To win the kind of society we want to live in, our union needs everyone involved – from all walks of life, all circumstances – it will take all our skills and experience.

Unite Community offers union membership to people who aren’t in work (with all the benefits of being in a Union, including access to training, support, and legal help), for a discounted rate of 55p a week. Our members are unemployed, retired, carers and students. Anyone who isn’t in paid work for any reason is welcome.

We join Unite Community because we want to make a difference in our communities.

We campaign on welfare rights and for a fairer social security system, we speak up on precarious work, we defend public services, and we support local Unite branches when they are taking industrial action to defend workers’ rights in our communities. And we want you with us.
