No Cuts to Universal Credit

In April 2021 the government plan to take away the £20 a week increase brought in at the start of the Coronavirus crisis. As we face the worst recession since the 1930s, and with record unemployment looming, cutting Universal Credit would be a vile act.

But that is what this Tory government plans to do.

Unite Community is campaigning for the £20 increase to be made permanent.

To get involved with the campaign, please contact your local branch. If you are a current  or recent claimant, you are particularly welcome to join us - your knowledge and experience are invaluable in this campaign.

Unite Community campaigns for a fairer social security system for all, which works to end poverty, and which allows claimants to live with dignity.

Better Buses for Yorkshire

Unite Community is campaigning with Yorkshire and Humber TUC  for better, publicly controlled buses in West Yorkshire, because our buses should be run for people not profit.  We are also supporting campaigns for public control of the buses in South Yorkshire and North Yorkshire.

Buses are a vital service, not an optional extra. But private companies are run for profit, and we, the bus users, have no say over routes and fares. Since the start of the Coronavirus outbreak, bus use has been decimated, and less profitable routes are under serious threat so the campaign for public control could not be more urgent.

Unite Community members in Yorkshire have a regular action group to support this campaign. To find out more, or to get involved, get in touch with Heather.
